leather nails

We all know I love leather:

1, 2, 3

So when I found this nail polish at Sephora yesterday it sparked my curiosity, and I had to share. I only painted one nail. I can't tell if it looks truly leather-like, but I would definitely give it a shot.

Nails Inc. London Leather Polish, $11

What's your nail polish of choice at the moment?

I'm currently obsessed with these.

anonymous no longer

For those who like to read.

AMAZING.

Do you blame her for wanting to be anonymous for just a moment?

quelle couleur?

Can we please discuss how you pick your nail color?

I usually have an idea going into the salon of the sort of color I am feeling - soft, dark, fierce, ethereal, etc. I am not the girl who can name colors by seeing them. Although I do have those friends - ahem...Whitney. Usually I spot a color and am oddly drawn to it. There was one week where I continually went into CVS and kept trying on the same blue nail polish. My friend and her sister talked me out of it saying it was smurf-like. I decided against it because it was also one of my company's colors, and I didn't feel like being a mascot, but for that week I was obsessed.

I had to bring up this topic because I got a mani pedi over the weekend, and my toes are the color of the bag below. I walked in, my eyes went straight to that color, and I have no idea why.

Essie Navigate Her

...but I love it, and my nails may or may not be gold sparkles. The manicurist was ever so kind to make sure I had ample sparkle dispersement on each finger. I will be going back to her for sure.

My toes.

My nails.

Tell me about your color selection process!
What color are you nails now?

ode to garance

I love Garance Dore's blog. She's French, dates Scott Shuman of the Sartoralist, draws amazing prints, loves fashion and lives in NYC - and that's cutting the list short.

So cute! I mean who wouldn't go for him and those
baby blues!!

A few of my favorite of her recent posts below:

on my list

makes me laugh

...and of course just another reason to move to Paris.

What is one of your favorite blogs?

city explorer

At the end of the day, I'm a creative soul. If I don't have a pen in hand I get anxious. My notebooks are filled with doodles and just request your name in bubble letters and I'm on it. This is why I was beyond excited to find out about Lost Wax Studio in NYC. Conveniently located in NoLita - one of my favorite neighborhoods. Click on the links below each photo to learn more.

making stack rings intro workshop

making authentic mocassins workshop

double leather wrap bracelet workshop
Also, check out 3rd Ward in Brooklyn for a myriad of crafty classes including subjects like metalwork, jewelry making, culinary, digital design and more!

millinery workshop: fascinators

Now on the other extreme of fun classes let's discuss exercise. I am a big fan of fun exercise classes, but spinning in water?! Aqua spin. Do we think it will be a hit or fail?

What I'm most excited about is this class. Jump dance here I come! I will be having my birthday here next year so get excited.

I'm taking it with a friend in early April - that's the soonest we could sign up. Disco, dancing and exercise?! I'm busting out my leo and tall socks.

These are just a few fun things around town that make me happy. I thought I would share since it is International Happiness Day. If you live in DC watch out for the hugs flash mob. Eek.

Any fun activities you are loving in your city at the moment?

PS - One of my favorite activities I did last year. Backflip dismount? Nailed it! Can't wait to take another class once they move outdoor for spring. Can you do a catch?

salut!

Pour pratiquer votre français:

NYC1

Adorable...thanks to Fal for sending.

I am a huge supporter of learning a second (third, fourth, fifth..) language. I wish I had learned another language when I was younger because you have the ability to absorb it much quicker. Anyone who knows me has probably heard me give a quick speech on how I feel that all Americans should learn more than one language,  and how I'm jealous I'm not european and naturally grew up speaking five. In our ever-expanding global economy I feel a little behind knowing only one language and would love to have the ability to help anyone who is interested in learning another - especially young children who can learn them so readily. Which brings me to my second point below.

More importantly - my friend Jessica introduced me to a great non-profit called the Global Language Project. GLP gives disadvantaged elementary school children the opportunity to become proficient in a second language in order to help them compete in a globalized workforce and world. I am all for this mission! Watch their mission video below - amazing!! Also, I've included a link below so you can learn how to get involved.

Do you speak a second language? If you could speak another language what would it be?

city guide on my mind

'The Fashion Insiders’ Guides are carefully curated compendiums of the current hotspots, classic haunts, and hidden gems of the world’s greatest fashion destinations. A former Parisian living in New York, French Vogue correspondent Carole Sabas was often approached by friends and colleagues on their way to Paris for Fashion Week, looking for the best place for a quick facial, early morning yoga, or to meet a friend for a drink. So many people asked, in fact, that she produced a small guide filled with advice, which she gave out for free. Requests for more information and other cities came pouring in.'

Paris Fashion Guide, $16.96

It's on my list!

If you were to do a city guide, what city would you choose and what is the first thing you would tell people to do?

baby it's (still) cold outside

Of course I keep thinking it's going to warm up.
Didn't have my gloves yesterday and that was a regret,
but I would rather have a cute husky puppy anyways as my winter accessory. Let's be serious.

AMAZING ring.

Simple and yummy!

Pretty and perfect for spring.

Weekend update tomorrow.
