lusting after...

this beyond gorgeous Zac Posen leather skirt found on Shopbop. They paired it with some classic Alejandro Ingelmo heels. Isn't it perfection?

weekend wisdom

I may not be going to a wedding this weekend, but these rules stand strong in any situation.

Happy Friday!

Rule #1: Never leave a fellow Crasher behind. Crashers take care of their own.

Rule #7: Blend in by standing out.

Rule #8: Be the life of the party.

Rule #95: Try not to show off on the dance floor. This means you Maggie.

Rule #76: No excuses. Play like a champion!

Shout out to Ali, Fallon, Katie Jane, Lindsay, Rosalind, Maggie, and Melissa - all of whom are featured in this post.

Any weekend rules you live by?

When I saw this gadget on the kitchn I knew I had to have it! The amount of times we have set off our smoke alarm is .... probably too embarrassing to share. I guess that's what you get when you live in a tiny apartment and you kitchen is literally in a hall way - or as my dad refers to it a 'galley kitchen.' The whole apartment can heat up pretty quick.

This little birdy will give you a friendly chirp to let you know it's getting too warm inside. It is your pre-smoke alarm warning system. With little chick-a-dee around you won't run into any awkward situations of having your neighbors knock on your door to see if everything is okay because your smoke alarms have been going off for five minutes. Lucky them, they find you standing on a chair, with a large box fan not even on right next to you (mental note: invest in extension cord), trying to frantically disconnect said smoke alarms. They just look at your like you're a little crazy and tell you it is illegal to disconnect them. Um, I already knew that - strike one for next door neighbors questioning my intelligence.*

Here are a few of my other favorite kitchen birdy finds:

*We have two alarms that are literally two feet away form each other. If I could just get rid of one...

Have you ever set off the smoke alarm? Any stories?

preparing for wind tunnels

*Work it girl

So today I was wandering around the city running errands, and I quickly came to the decision that it was not a good day to be in a flowy dress. Subway grates along the street are the least of your problems. It's all about the wind tunnel effect. When that wind whips down those streets, girl you know you better hold on to your dress. I have had a few close calls - no Marilyn Monroe action just yet - but just in case I want to be prepared to look my best if the moment comes. Thus, here are a few of my favorite briefs and boy shorts. Let's be honest, I'm a proud supporter of barely there underwear, but when bared to the streets of NYC, I would like a little coverage.

Have you ever had a Marilyn moment?

longer letters later

Wanting to write a little thank you this morning I realized I didn’t have any classic ‘go to‘ thank you stationery. So the hunt led me to these little gems at missive's store on Etsy. Letterpressed to perfection with a little monogram sass equals pure love. Check out their other pieces. Love the Merci Beaucoup cards as well. You know anything in French just steals my heart…
*B is for Blair - and I have the same stamps! Love them.

I also think letter writing is going out of style and I have decided to bring it back. Am busting out my good old stationery that I found at the bottom of my book shelf to write a few letters to some dear friends of mine who don't happen to live in the city. Who doesn't love receiving mail?

Do you still write letters?
